This 1-day course is ideal for workplaces with lower-risk environments or as a stepping stone to the full First Aid at Work qualification. It equips individuals with the essential skills to provide immediate care to someone who is injured or becomes ill at work.

  • Understanding the role of the first aider
  • First aid equipment and its safe use
  • Primary survey (DRABC) – assessing the situation and the casualty
  • Managing an unresponsive casualty (including recovery position)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adults
  • Dealing with choking (adults)
  • Managing bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Treatment for shock
  • Dealing with minor injuries (cuts, grazes, bruises)
  • Basic record-keeping

First Aid at Work (FAW) – Your Comprehensive Emergency Care

Who is this course for?

This more comprehensive 3-day course is designed for workplaces with more staff or a higher-risk environments or where a more in-depth level of first aid training is required. It provides a thorough understanding of a wider range of injuries and illnesses, equipping first aiders to manage more complex situations.

FAW Course Syllabus (Includes EFAW content plus):

  • Secondary survey
  • Managing injuries to bones, muscles, and joints (including sprains, strains, and fractures)
  • Head, neck, and back injuries
  • Chest injuries
  • Eye injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Poisoning
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Recognition and management of major illnesses (heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes)
  • Control of hemorrhagic bleeding
  • Dealing with hot and cold injuries
  • Resuscitation for adults, children, and infants (including modifications)
  • Dealing with medical emergencies
  • Record-keeping and reporting
  • Regulations and legislation
